Microneedling
Treats: Scars,Stretch Marks,Wrinkles
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling encourages skin rejuvenation by using multiple superficial puncture wounds to stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process to create new collagen and elastin.
Collagen is found all throughout the body, and provides structure and support to the skin. Elastin gives skin its stretchiness and allows it to bounce back.
We can also use this method to deliver essential nutrients trans-dermally.
Microneedling can be used for hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, rosacea, fine lines and stretch marks.
The process takes around 20 minutes, and redness remains for around 3 days, but you can return to normal physical activities immediately.
Usually a course of 3 – 6 treatments are needed, recommended to space each session 4 weeks apart.

Procedure
Following the initial 30 minute assessment the procedure takes around 20 minutes. Topical anaesthetic is optional. Different speeds and depths are used for different skin types and areas.
Aftercare
Following treatment redness will be visible for up to three days. The skin may feel prickly for 24 hours and tight for 48 hours after that. We advise on what products to use post procedure to optimise the effect of the treatment. Normal skincare regime can be resumed after day 3 with more active products introduced after day 5.
Timing
The microneedling procedure takes around 20 minutes. A course of 3 – 6 sessions is usually recommended depending on skin condition, and these can be repeated every 2 – 4 weeks.
Why not?
There are some instances when we advise not to undergo microneedling. These include:
- If you are pregnant or breast feeding
- If you have a local skin infection or any lesions in the area being treated
- If you have had an aesthetic treatment within the last 14 days
- If you have taken Roaccutane in the last 6 months
- If you have had radiotherapy in the last 12 months
- If you have a long-term condition resulting in immunosuppression including diabetes
- If you have an allergy to metal
- If you are prone to keloid scarring
Potential Complications
Complications are infrequent, but can include:
- Pain, swelling, bruising or redness
- Risk of damage if aggressively overtreated
- Hyperpigementation may occur, if inadequate sun protection is used – this should resolve itself
